Sheet piling are manufactured in locking sections to form walls that retain water or soil. Sheet piling are often used as shoring for excavation support and as the primary material for retaining walls, cofferdams, seawalls, and weirs.

Sheet piling are generally installed for the use of retaining earth or water. Sheet piling can be constructed of concrete or steel and have interlocking ends so they can be installed into a continuous wall. Sheet piling can be used as a temporary measure for dewatering purposes or can be left in place to protect embankments from future erosion. Sheet piling are installed using jetting techniques, by use of a vibratory hammer or using impact hammers.
